Commercial Finance Manager

Contract –  12 months Fixed Term Contract

Location – Hybrid with occasional travel to Andover Office

Salary- £70,000

Hours – Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm

We’re not just your average health company; we’re aiming to revolutionise access to healthcare in the UK by offering innovative health and wellbeing solutions that are affordable, accessible, and effective. From preventive care to comprehensive medical support, we aim to empower individuals to take charge of their health, inspiring them to make the most of their wellbeing. Added to that we’re the first health insurer in the UK to be awarded B-Corp status in recognition of our significant achievements in sustainability, in addition to our ambitious environmental and social responsibility goals.

At Simplyhealth, our purpose is simple: to improve access to healthcare, for the many, for the long term. We're looking for a commercially minded, analytically driven Commercial Finance Manager to play a pivotal role in helping us achieve that mission.

This is far more than a traditional finance role. You'll be a trusted business partner to Product Directors, Senior Leaders, and Executive stakeholders, providing the insight, challenge, and commercial expertise needed to drive strategic decisions, unlock growth opportunities, and improve business performance.

If you're passionate about turning data into action, influencing senior decision-makers, and shaping the future of a purpose-led organisation, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

As the financial lead for key Business Units and Executive Cost Centres, you'll:

Partner with Senior Leaders

  • Act as a trusted advisor to Product Directors, budget owners, and senior stakeholders on all financial and performance matters.

  • Influence strategic and operational decision-making through robust financial insight and commercial challenge.

  • Support leaders in delivering growth agendas, enhancing customer propositions, and creating high-performing service organisations.

Drive Commercial Performance

  • Deliver insightful commercial analysis that identifies opportunities, risks, and performance improvement actions.

  • Build credible forecasts and scenario plans that help the business achieve and exceed targets.

  • Develop recommendations that directly support the delivery of Simplyhealth's strategic ambitions.

Champion Data-Driven Decision Making

  • Embed a fact-based, data-led approach to problem-solving across the business.

  • Create meaningful reporting and performance dashboards, including OKR reporting, that provide clear visibility of business performance.

  • Lead the development of cost reporting and analytics to support effective management of spend, cost-saving initiatives, and investment decisions.

Unlock Efficiency and Value

  • Proactively identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and optimise resource allocation.

  • Monitor business costs, track savings initiatives, and provide transparency over incremental investments and expenditure.

  • Build and enhance Power BI dashboards that bring financial performance and cost management to life for stakeholders.

Contribute to a High-Performing Finance Team

  • Collaborate with colleagues across Finance to build a resilient, forward-thinking, and commercially focused finance function.

  • Support business transformation and change initiatives through strong financial partnership and leadership.

  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes, performance, and ways of working.

About You

What You'll Bring

We're looking for a commercially minded finance professional who combines strong technical expertise with the ability to influence, challenge and partner effectively with senior stakeholders.

You'll bring:

  • Significant experience providing strategic finance leadership and support to a business function, including leading budgeting, forecasting and performance target setting aligned to business strategy.

  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to develop financial models, evaluate investment opportunities and shape pricing strategies that drive sustainable growth and profitability.

  • A proven track record of optimising financial performance whilst ensuring compliance with regulatory, statutory and Group governance requirements.

  • Exceptional finance business partnering skills, with the ability to influence decision-making, negotiate effectively, and translate complex financial information into meaningful insights for non-finance audiences.

  • Demonstrable experience delivering high-quality financial reporting, performance analysis and actionable management information that supports strategic decision-making.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, financial controls, management accounting practices and finance systems.

  • Advanced analytical capability, with experience using data and insight to identify opportunities, mitigate risks and improve business performance.

  • Experience developing impactful reporting and dashboards, ideally using Power BI, to support cost management, forecasting and performance monitoring.

  • Confidence, credibility and gravitas to build trusted relationships with senior leaders, challenge constructively, and influence outcomes across the organisation.

  • A proactive, resilient and adaptable approach, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities can evolve quickly.

  • A collaborative mindset, curiosity to understand the wider business context, and a commitment to continuous improvement and personal development.
