About The Role

At Simplyhealth, our purpose is to improve access to healthcare for all in the UK. As a certified B Corp with more than 150 years of heritage, we're committed to making healthcare more affordable, accessible and inclusive for everyone.

We’re looking for an entrepreneurial social impact leader to join our ESG team. The central purpose of the role is to design a community-focused initiative, inspired by leading models such as The Felix Project and Cook for Good, to address food insecurity in Hampshire.

During the 6-month contract, you’ll create the business case for the initiative – developing a vision and operating model aligned with community needs, based on local needs analysis and stakeholder mapping. You’ll present the business case to the Board and, if successfully approved, the 6m FTC will be extended with a multi-year investment.

At this point, your role would change from business case to implementation and delivery. Your focus would be creating and scaling a Community Interest Company (CIC), working closely with local communities, partners and funders to deliver a sustainable and high-impact solution. Responsibilities at that point would include:

Financial modelling
o Develop financial models, forecasts and funding strategies, and build a diversified income model, whilst ensuring strong financial governance

Investment
o Identify and secure initial investment from grants, philanthropic sources, impact investors and local corporate partners

Partnerships and ecosystem building
o Negotiate and manage partnerships to ensure reliable food supply and effective delivery to those most in need

Programme design and delivery

Community engagement and safeguarding

Leadership and governance
o Recruit, lead and develop and small, high-performing team
o Establish CIC governance structures, including Board engagement

What’s in it for you?
As well as a competitive salary, our benefits package includes:
• Group bonus scheme
• Generous pension with a 6% pension gift from us
• 36 days holiday (with the option to buy and sell a further 5 days)
• Flexible benefits pot (which you can choose to use against some great benefits such as critical illness, private healthcare scheme, shopping vouchers and more)
• Your own health plan
• Access to a wellbeing hub
• Shopping discounts
• Recognition awards  healthcare scheme healthcare scheme
• Give as you earn
• 3 volunteering days

We have a head office in Hampshire, but depending on your role, you’ll be able to enjoy our ‘smart working’ approach This means you can flex when and where you spend your time. For many of us this means day to day work can be handled remotely, but there will also be times when we need to come together in the office to collaborate, attend training sessions, induction, briefings and more.

About You

We’d love to hear from you if you’ve got significant experience in social impact, non-profit leadership or social enterprise. You’ll have a successful track record of launching or scaling programmes, ventures or community initiatives. This includes developing business cases, financial models, securing funding/investment, and building and managing multi-stakeholder partnerships.

Excellent project management skills, managing complexity and ambiguity
Entrepreneurial mindset – proactive, resilient and solutions-focused, bringing commercial acumen
Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
A strong commitment to social justice and equity

Experience in food systems, food distribution or food insecurity initiatives would be desirable, as well as experience working in a CIC or similar structure.

Your Recruitment Journey

We’re committed to a fair, inclusive and transparent recruitment process. The recruitment process will include a phone interview with the Talent Acquisition team and an interview with our Senior Sustainability and Resilience Manager.
