About The Role

At Simplyhealth, we’re a proud B Corp with a clear purpose: to improve access to healthcare for everyone in the UK. As Head Dental Officer, you’ll take on the most senior clinical leadership role within Denplan, our flagship dental business. You’ll shape the clinical direction of our services, represent the voice of our member dentists, and champion excellence in oral health nationwide.

You’ll lead and support our national network of member practices, helping them navigate clinical governance, regulation, and innovation. You’ll play a vital role in the development of new products and services, ensuring they meet the highest standards of clinical care and reflect the evolving needs of patients and professionals alike.

Externally, you’ll act as one of the key public faces of Denplan - speaking at events, contributing to thought leadership, and engaging with government, regulators, and academic institutions. Internally, you’ll work closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring dental expertise is embedded across our business strategy and operations.

This is a highly visible and influential role where your expertise will directly shape the future of private dental care in the UK.

About You

We’re looking for an inspiring and experienced clinical leader who brings:

  • Professional Credibility: GDC registration and significant hands-on experience in a UK dental practice.
  • Strategic Influence: Proven leadership in a clinical, regulatory, or senior advisory role; able to shape policy, influence stakeholders, and drive innovation.
  • Strong Industry Insight: A deep understanding of the UK dental landscape, especially private and plan-based models of care.
  • Risk & Governance Expertise: Solid experience of clinical governance, regulatory compliance, and dento-legal considerations.
  • Exceptional Communication: Confident presenting to both clinical and non-clinical audiences; comfortable acting as a spokesperson and thought leader.
  • Relationship Building Skills: Able to engage a diverse range of stakeholders—from member dentists and regulators to corporate partners and internal teams.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Experience managing high-performing teams and fostering a collaborative culture that supports growth, inclusion, and learning.

You will also have the confidence and flexibility to attend 20–25 events per year and the ability to travel as needed across the UK.

Your Recruitment Journey

We’re committed to an inclusive, transparent and supportive recruitment process, designed to help you bring your best self to each stage:

  • Initial Conversation: A telephone interview with our Head of People Operations to talk through your experience and answer your questions.
  • First Stage Interview: A 60-minute interview with our Denplan Product Director to further discuss your background and your opportunity to ask detailed questions.
  • Assessments: We’ll ask you to complete a Working Styles Questionnaire and a short online test to help us understand how you work. We’ll make any reasonable adjustments needed to support you.
  • Final Interview: A 90-minute session at our Andover head office, including a presentation and Q&A.
  • Offer & Onboarding: If successful, we’ll carry out pre-employment checks including DBS and credit screening and welcome you into our Simplyhealth team.

This role offers a unique opportunity to lead a critical function, drive transformational change, and make a meaningful impact.
