About The Role

As our Head of Procurement, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our procurement strategy, driving value creation, and managing business risk across a £40 million annual spend.

Reporting to our General Counsel & Company Secretary, you’ll oversee the evolution of our Procurement function, including the Vendor Management Framework, category management strategies, and commercial partnerships. You’ll act as a trusted advisor to our Executive Leadership Team, helping to align procurement initiatives with Simplyhealth’s mission to improve access to healthcare for all.

Leading a dynamic team of four, you’ll take charge of high-impact supplier negotiations, manage strategic partnerships, and champion innovation in procurement practices to support our growth agenda.

About You

To excel in this role, you’ll bring:

  • Leadership Expertise: Experience leading a Procurement Business Partner function, aligning procurement strategies with broader business goals.
  • Strategic Vision: A proven track record of delivering cost savings, meeting KPIs, and optimising performance while maintaining compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements.
  • Commercial Acumen: Strong skills in creative contracting and negotiation to drive value and improve profitability.
  • Relationship Building: The ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders and develop meaningful partnerships with key suppliers.
  • Sector Knowledge: An understanding of the insurance industry and regulatory frameworks, including PRA third-party management, is highly desirable.
  • People Development: A commitment to leading, motivating, and developing a high-performing team.

Your Recruitment Journey

Our fair, inclusive, and transparent recruitment process is designed to support your success. Here’s what you can expect:

  1. Initial Conversation: A telephone interview with our Head of People Operations to discuss your experience and answer your initial questions.
  2. First Stage Interview: A 60-minute interview with our General Counsel & Company Secretary.
  3. Aptitude & Psychometric Tests: To help inform our overall decision we’ll ask you to complete two assessments: a verbal numerical test and a Working Styles Questionnaire to ensure the best fit for the role. Please let us know if we need to make any adjustments for you.
  4. Final Interview: You’ll be provided with a brief to present to the General Counsel & Company Secretary with the opportunity for Q&A throughout. This will take place at our head office in Andover and will take circa 90 minutes total.
  5. Offer and Onboarding: Once these stages are complete we’ll make a decision. The successful candidate will undergo pre-employment checks, including a basic DBS and credit check.
