About The Role

At Simplyhealth, we’re looking for a Java Development Manager to join our experienced Java team, reporting into our Software Engineering and Application Director and playing a leading role in the build and management of Simplyhealth’s new strategic platform.

We’ll look to you as our subject matter expert, to ensure the continuous development of our critical business system Pulse and ownership of the various application systems based on Java architecture. 

You’ll provide leadership, vision, direction and actively contribute to the delivery of Simplyhealth’s IT transformation whilst driving operational excellence and achieving on-time/cost of all projects.

Having recently come together as one Simplyhealth team, and with a new simplified operating model, the IT team is adapting to meet the needs of the business and this role plays an important part in supporting this
About You

With demonstrable experience of managing a software development team (Java) and implementing industry best practice, you’ll be ready for an exciting new challenge and have expertise in the use of JavaScript, Spring boot, Oracle and CICD

As an enthusing change agent, communication and pragmatic commercial thinking will be a key strength of yours, with the ability to build long lasting and impactful relationships. 

As well as a competitive basic salary you’ll receive:

  • 36 days holiday (pro rata including 8 bank holidays)
  • Group annual bonus (discretionary) up to 7.5% of annual salary
  • A pension scheme with 6% from us, a minimum 3% from you with the option to increase or decrease when you join. If you decide to contribute 4% or above we will add a further 4% which can be allocated in different ways
