About The Role

We have an exciting inhouse opportunity for a Legal Counsel to provide advice on a diverse range of legal matters. You’ll provide legal advice to a wide range of stakeholders, dealing with high risk / high value vendor and supplier contracts, exercising judgement to engage, advise, inform and collaborate to achieve the best outcome for the business.

As Legal Counsel you’ll report to the General Counsel & Company Secretary, in promoting a high quality and cost-effective legal function which is aligned to the culture and strategy of Simplyhealth. You’ll constructively challenge the business and critically question and suggest solutions to business issues through delivering legal advice in a commercial, pragmatic and user-friendly way to those teams without a dedicated legal function.

Please note we have a ‘smart working’ policy with flexible remote working. We will consider applications across the UK, however, there may be a requirement to attend meetings at our Hampshire head office in line with government guidelines.

About You

You’ll need a broad range of legal experience, able to provide advice and guidance on a wide spectrum of legal issues. We are a dual FCA / PRA regulated firm, so previous experience in financial services or insurance is a must.

You must be able to demonstrate experience of working with senior stakeholders and be able to distil complicated legal information into an easy to digest ‘human’ way. You’ll be able to give an opinion to your stakeholders to help support decisions and to challenge thinking in a collaborative way.

You’ll have a strong business mind-set, able to identify individual opportunities that improve business performance. You’ll be a strong, effective and dynamic relationship builder, able to identify key stakeholders and invest in building relationships, as well as taking accountability for engaging with and balancing diverse stakeholder interests.

You’ll constantly think of new ways to improve the business, raising constructive challenges and ideas at senior level to influence business thinking. You’ll be resilient and persist when faced with difficulties or setbacks.

Please note this is a 12-month fixed term contract for maternity cover.
